C O M / d i g i t a l - j o u r n a l 43 Tom Rolfstad announced he will be retiring from his position as the Executive Director of the Williston Area Economic Devel- opment Corporation by November 1, 2014. In a phone conversation Tom mentioned wanting to spend more time with his family including a mar- ried son living in Billings, Montana. The key to his decision, according to Rolfstad, is the fact he turned 62 in July this year and has some things left on his bucket list to complete. Tom was born and raised in Williston, North Dakota with a rich history of having grandparents homesteading in Williams County in the early 1900's. His father worked as North Dakota State's Attorney in Williston. Williston is centrally located to the entire Bakken play and is the location of over 400+ oilfield service companies. The top 10 oilfield service companies in the world are all locat- ed in Williston and are all moving to make Williston their largest facility in North America. Replacing him will be Shawn Wenko, who is currently the As- sistant Director of Economic Development. North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple named Rolfstad Eco- nomic Developer of the Year at a Bismarck conference in 2012. Passing the baton to the new generation will be a tough move and his pace will slow down some but Tom Rolfstad has plans to stay involved in some way, manner or form with the exciting part of being part of history in making the US energy secure. ■ Bob van der Valk is the Senior Editor of the Bakken Oil Business Journal and can be contacted at: editor@bakkenoilbiz.com Northwest Pump is now in Billings!
