Just recently, the Internation- al Energy Agency released findings that indicated total American crude oil output will increase 1.3 million barrels per day until 2021 despite the recent drop in global oil prices. Shale output across the United States is currently decreasing, but it is expected to rise again from 2018 on- ward. In response, OPEC's secretary general stated, "Shale oil in the United States, I don't know how we are going to live together, any increase in price, shale will come immediately and cover any reduction." America should be so lucky. New drilling methods have unlocked energy potential from regions like Western North Dakota that previously saw little economic activity.
